On August 3rd John Eshleman and his mentor Bill Michel in the C-123 took off at of Wolf Lake headed for Unakleet with a very large generator. It was in Wild Bills C-123. John is always flying with him to get experience. Bill Michel, 61, was flying the Fairchild C-123 that went down Sunday afternoon within a mile of the park headquarters and about 200 yards north of the only road into the park. They had a engine out and they tried to get to a little strip at Denali Park or at least head for the road....something went very terribly wrong and they hit the trees and the side of a mountain next to the road. The plane exploded and there were no survivors. John had one of workers Paul Quartly, 66 in the plane just to help them out with the freight. There is a lot of news stories on this. If you Google "plane crash in Denali Park, you will get a whole bunch of stuff.
